Welcome from Co-op Academy Princeville

Welcome to our newsletter this week. It has been a very busy one. The sun has been shining and the pupils have enjoyed some time outdoors. The pupils enjoyed earning their Marvellous Merits and loved it when they picked up their prizes today. We had some visitors from the Trust who came to review the strengths and area of development for the academy. In particular, there was a strong sense of community and belonging from our pupils, who took part in pupil voice.

Year 6 SATS

As we move into the final terms of the school year, our Year 6 pupils are preparing for their Key Stage 2 National Curriculum Assessments, commonly known as SATs.

We know that "SATs Week" can feel like a big milestone, but we want to reassure you that these assessments are simply a way to celebrate how much your child has learned during their time at primary school. They help us—and your child’s future secondary school—understand their strengths and where they might need a little extra support.

The 2026 Timetable

The assessments will take place from Monday, 11th May to Thursday, 14th May 2026. It is very important that all pupils are in school on time during this week.

A Very Warm Welcome to Our New Families!

On behalf of the staff, Academy Community Council, and current pupils, I would like to extend a heartfelt welcome to all the new families joining us this term. Whether you are starting in Reception or joining us in an older year group, we are absolutely delighted to have you as part of our school community.

Starting a new school is a significant milestone. It is a time of new friendships, new routines, and—most importantly—new adventures in learning. We understand that the first few weeks can feel like a whirlwind, but please know that we are here to support you every step of the way.

Key Dates

Bank Holiday Monday May 4th

School will be closed and reopen on Tuesday May 5th.

Term ends on Friday May 22nd.

Stars Outside of School

Let us know if your child has recently done something they are proud of outside of school. It could be swimming their first 25m, winning a trophy in gymnastics or being nominated for player of the match. Anything your child is proud of achieving.

Send us an email with details and a picture and we will include it in our next newsletter.

This week's star is...

Isaac in Year 5 who has been scouted for Bradford City's Under 11's team. He has enjoyed his first 2 training sessions. We are so proud of you Isaac. Keep up the great work and we can't wait for you to teach us some new skills in school.

Attendance Matters: Why Every Day Counts

At Co-op Academy Princeville, we strive to provide our children with the best possible start in life. To do that, we need them here in the classroom.

We understand that holidays are a time for family bonding and that travel costs are significantly higher during school breaks. However, we would like to remind all families that term-time holidays cannot be authorised and must not be taken during term time.

The "Only a Few Days" Myth

It can be tempting to think that missing a few days won't matter, but the numbers tell a different story.

95%= 9 days missed which is 2 weeks

90%= 19 days missed which is 4 weeks

85%= 29 days missed which is 6 weeks

This really impacts progress for our pupils.

We do run a Breakfast Club and an After School Club. If you need to use either of these provisions, please do get in touch.

Community News

If you know of any local events promoting sports clubs for primary-aged children, or any support and advice groups that would benefit our families, please get in touch!

We’d love to hear about them and may be able to share the details in our upcoming newsletter.
