Assembly stories

Every Monday, Key Stage 2 has an assembly with Miss Spivey.

Each week we read a different story which relates to our Personal Social Health Education (PSHE) curriculum. These stories help us to make the right choices, seek help if we need it and stay safe.

So far we have read Grumpy Frog and Silly Billy.

Grumpy Frog

Grumpy Frog is a picture book written and illustrated by Ed Vere. The story is about a frog who happens to be very grumpy but he says that he is not. Grumpy frog loves green, hopping and winning. If something is not green, the activity is not hopping or if he is not winning Grumpy Frog goes into the red zone.

This means that Grumpy Frog is lonely. Grumpy Frog meets Pink Rabbit who together help each other compromise and tolerate difference.

Silly Billy

Silly Billy is a picture book written by Anthony Browne.

Silly Billy worries about lots of things (hats, shoes, clouds, giant birds and staying away from home). His mum and dad try to help him but he still worries.

Silly Billy stays with his grandma, who gives him some worry dolls to tell his worries to. Billy is told to put these under his pillow so that he sleeps well. He did for the first few nights.

But ...

After a few nights, he worries about giving his worries to the worry dolls. To solve this, he makes worry dolls for his worry dolls. After that, everyone sleeps well.
